Home Is Where The Heart Is

R arrived home yesterday, safe and sound and happy to be here I think. He enjoyed his stay in Germany, and showed me the pictures he took. I must admit I was jealous when I saw the pics from the Pergamon Museum. I had seen many of things they have there on History Channel and have dreamed of seeing them. He even got to touch them. I love ancient history so. But I must say I am impressed that he went to a museum. I think he liked the Ishtar gate best.

He brought me home something very special too, I had seen a Berlin exclusive Steiff and this man of mine went all the way to West Berlin to get me one from the only store that sells it. He picked one with a perfect face too! I was so touched, I don't know if he even realized how much. He has never been the sort of guy to bring me lots of presents, so this was HUGE. I had another very special compliment when I asked him teasingly if the fraulines were pretty and he replied quite earnestly that he didn't really notice.

My parents left Friday morning and made it back home in a blizzard. They told me some pretty scary tales of cars and trucks going off the road. So I was happy to hear they made it home alright.

Left to my own devices for two days I decided to go see the Water Horse. I had to see it, since I love Nessie so much! The movie didn't diassapoint either. It was of course a fantasy but it was quite fun. I had a nagging feeling all day that I should stop at the pet store on the way home. I came home with a little scrap of overpriced fur (shown above) that is akin to a spider monkey. I have never had a kitten so ambitious! She is adorable though and has already taken over. Gypsy and Basil have nearly forgiven me, but Gyps took it the hardest because she loves her Mama so and I betrayed her. *Laughs*

The snow is falling gently outside and it's time for me to get busy and do things inside! I need to eat lunch, do some laundry and some work. As I look around, I know that home truly is where the heart is!

The Glass Is Half Full

Wednesday has come to a close and we are on to Thursday. That means for the first time ever hump day actually means something to me. R is on the down side of his trip, which means he closer to home. YAY! He gets to sight see tomorrow if he gets everything done. He has seen a few things, and he sent me two pics tonight. I keep vacillating between happy for him and jealous that I couldn't go. I love to travel. I want to see the whole world. All of it...yes, every single bit. *Laughs*

I am really happy that he got to go though. He hasn't ever had much interest in traveling and I hope that he discovers he loves it. Because even more than I love the idea of traveling, I love the idea of traveling with him. I want to go to Paris with him. That is my current dream/goal. Guess I better make a lot of bears and jewelry! I made a bracelet today and it turned out really pretty. My Mother loved it. I also made salmon today that was truly impressive for a girl who hates to cook!

New Colors For A New Year

Buddha said; "If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change."

As it turns out I was fortunate enough to experience a rare sight. I had called the dogs to come in, and was standing and waiting for them. While I was doing that, my Narcissus burst forth into bloom. Now we have all seen flowers bloom on nature shows on TV but to be standing next to it as it happens is rather awe inspiring.

I think that represents what this year is going to be about, fresh possibilities! I decided to give the blog a facelift. I am not sure if I have settled on the exact colors I want, but I am getting there!

It's been a regular hive of activity around here, so I haven't had much time to blog or make bears or anything else really. R is getting ready for his trip to Germany in a couple days. (I am still jealous and wish I could go.) And I have been preparing for my parents arrival the same day. I still have to do some last minute cleaning. But as the week wears on, things should get back to normal.

I will be updating the website as soon as I have new goodies to put on it. I am going to add a whole new section to it as well.

In the mean time, be happy, healthy and prosperous! Wish R a bon voyage too!

Project Runway

A while back a friend of mine got me hooked on Project Runway. I really didn't want to add another reality show to my TV repertoire, but I did because it's an easy show to get hooked into.

Tonight the girl who got eliminated, Elisa...was hands down the most gracious loser I have ever seen. I felt really bad for her, the judges were extremely harsh on her, and it was blatantly obvious that they didn't understand her vision or her work method. They say they want people to be creative, but I suspect that what they really want is people to make things that go along with the style they prefer. Tim actually said once to a contestant that the dress he was making was too pretty. Tim needs to go out in America and get in touch with real women. We like pretty.

At any rate the girl who got eliminated tonight had gone through a terrible ordeal prior to being chosen as a contestant on the show. She was hit by a car in Paris as a pedestrian. She had a 3-4 inch split in her skull and broke her neck. When I was in high school my boyfriend broke his neck in a car accident. I have seen that first hand and I know the struggle that goes with recovery from that.

When she was eliminated she was still so positive. She didn't take it as a set back or an insult to her work. I was so impressed with the way she left the show and I really hope she makes it. But considering the adversity she has already had to overcome, I think she has the perseverance to do it! Way to go Elisa!
