Mama Mia!

I have always considered it sort of a treat to take myself to a late movie on a week night. Usually there are no crowds or screaming kids at the theater that late at night.

So tonight I decided to go see "Mama Mia!" The plot wasn't real complicated, the acting was pretty good and the singing was so-so in some places. But I have to tell you, I haven't had this much fun at a movie in ages. There were maybe 15-20 people in the theater, and every one of them was singing and tapping their feet and laughing right out loud at the naughty or silly parts.

But the thing I liked best about the movie was the utter lack of regard for age. Everyone acted the same, young...old...and every age in between. It was a celebration of human spirit and friviolity. That is something I really needed with my impending birthday on Thursday.

I am turning 45, which I know might not seem so old...but it's officially middle aged and I am having trouble with it. I don't think anyone wants to get old, and if Meryl Streep is any indication...none of us ever have to!

If you weren't going to go see it...change your mind...if you were going to go see it, do it NOW! Enjoy! Just make sure you sit through the credits, they are hysterical!
