New Site Design & Mailing List

I got the new layout done!  I have some tweaking to do still...but it will keep until after my company comes and goes next week.  I have to get the house cleaned next.  Plus I have an appointment at 10 am to find out what the MRI showed on my knee.

I like the new layout, it's not as fussy and it will be easy to change for each update.  Plus I wanted something different from what other people have.  I think I achieved that.  I wanted to do bigger thumbnails, but I may have gone a tad too big, so that's one of the things that will get tweaked later! 
Also the new newsletter service is now in place, so you can sign up for that either by using the link at the right or on the details page of my site.

A New Look For Spring

With the onset of spring I felt a new look for my website was in order!  I have been working quite hard on it, and I am pretty pleased with it.  I hope you are too!

Brand New Layout

I have spent the past few days doing a completely new layout for my website.  I went back to a vintage feel because I think it best supports my style.  You get a nice big picture of each piece and they open in their own window now.

Settling On A Design

So I made the big switch over using the new templates. I decided not to go with three column. But I still have extra width. I rather like it and I think I can post bigger pictures of things now. (The picture of Liberty was just a test to see how that worked.)

The design was a surprise to me, but I like that too. The header is pretty big, but I think with such a big picture I don't need all that fancy stuff on the sides. So it's kind of minimally fancy. That's a thing...really! *winks*  I did discover you have to make the header the maximum size in order to center it.

At Long Last...

Would you believe...I have finished my website layout! I know it's hard to imagine right? After all this time I finally settled on something. The odd thing is, it's completely different from what I thought I wanted. I wanted bright colors and I went with black, taupe-ish grey, white and red. I wanted something really fancy, but instead I went with something pretty simple. I was going to change the basic style of the layout and I didn't do that either. And you know what, I love it! Now you get two pics of each piece, and it's very simple to navigate. Also I took into consideration that the purchase buttons were overlapping the price for Mac users and added it in right below the name. I hope that helps!

Think Think Think

I feel like Winnie The Pooh tapping his temple and saying think think think. I think sometimes I drive myself crazy on purpose. Maybe it makes life more interesting? I don't know. Maybe I don't do it on purpose, maybe I just can't help it.

Over the past two months I have made about 6 new layouts for my website. There is nothing wrong with any of them. In fact some of them are really quite nice. I just don't want to use any of them. They aren't what I want. Maybe it's because I have been staring at them too long. I am not sure what I want to be honest. I have too many ideas. That's part of the trouble.

So I am curious, what do you like to see when you go to a shopping site? Do you just want to click on thumbnails and get right down to business or do you like it to be a bit more adventurous? (Adventurous does not mean hard to navigate!) I need some feedback.

Behind, Behind, Behind!

I keep trying to get caught up. I am slowly but surely getting there. I finally got all the Christmas decorations taken down which was a major accomplishment. As soon as they come down I am immediately ready for Spring. Christmas is the only thing I like about Winter.

I always have the urge to nest a bit, and make things bright and cheery. One of the best purchases I ever made was on a whim, it was a tablecloth at Pier 1 that was on clearance for about three dollars. It's so pretty, it has old fashioned 30's appeal. It's those perfect ice cream shades they favored then. It's aqua with pink flowers and green leaves and a little yellow thrown in. It always cheers me right up to put it on the table after Christmas.

I have a huge urge to go to this antique mall we have in town, but I am trying to resist. I have to finish the new website layout and maybe even get something made. My inventory was decimated in December, which is good...but it left my site a bit empty.

Following the same need I have for the house, I want to make the site bright and cheery. I had intended to go straight into Valentines Day since it's not that far off, but as is the nature of art...it's taken on a life of it's own and is turning into something else entirely.

Hopefully I will have it done very soon. Stay tuned! I am going back to work.
